Dhaka: On the eve of Pohela Boishakh, the Embassy of France and the Embassy of Germany jointly hosted a vibrant cultural event titled ‘Proloyer Daak,’ highlighting the spirit of the Bengali New Year through art, culture, and community engagement.
The event brought together local artisans and craft makers, showcasing a diverse collection of handcrafted works. Guests had the opportunity to interact directly with artists, gaining insight into traditional techniques and creative practices that reflect Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage, read a press release from the Embassy of France in Dhaka.
A lively traditional Bengali dance performance and food stalls offering local finger foods and desserts added to the festive atmosphere, creating a community-centered celebration that honored the essence of the New Year.
Speaking at the event, French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet described it as a privilege to co-host the celebration alongside Germany, emphasizing the importance of diversity and the unifying power of art.
German Ambassador Rüdiger Lotz and Deputy Secretary of the Cultural Exchange Section at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Amitav Porag Talukder, also addressed the gathering.
