Bangladesh, Morocco stress educational cooperation, people-to-people connectivity

Dhaka: Bangladesh and Morocco have emphasized strengthening educational cooperation and enhancing people-to-people connectivity as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The issues came up during a meeting between Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat on May 19, read a press release.
During the meeting, the two leaders highlighted the importance of sustained high-level exchanges in advancing political relations and expanding cooperation in diverse sectors.
They reaffirmed their commitment to further consolidating Bangladesh-Morocco ties in areas including education, women’s empowerment, sports, culture, and agriculture, alongside trade and investment, textiles, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, and shipbuilding.
Special emphasis was placed on promoting educational collaboration and strengthening people-to-people connectivity between the two countries to foster closer cultural and social engagement.
The State Minister fondly recalled the historic visit of late President Ziaur Rahman to Morocco in 1980 and appreciated Morocco’s gesture of naming an avenue in Rabat in his honor.
The two sides also agreed to hold the next round of Foreign Office Consultations in Dhaka at the earliest opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and explore new areas of mutual interest.
Bangladesh and Morocco also discussed enhancing collaboration in multilateral forums and maintaining closer diplomatic engagement on regional and international issues.
