Dhaka: Oneworld has named seasoned aviation executive Ole Orvér as its new chief executive officer, the airline alliance announced on February 23. Orvér will assume the role on April 1, succeeding Nathaniel Pieper, who recently took on the chief commercial officer position at American Airlines.
A Swedish national, Orvér brings more than 20 years of aviation industry experience. Most recently, he served as chief commercial officer at Finnair, where he led the transformation of the airline’s commercial and network strategy and introduced new revenue and loyalty initiatives.
Prior to Finnair, he held the role of senior vice president—network management at Qatar Airways. He also served in leadership positions at Air Berlin, LOT Polish Airlines, and SAS Scandinavian Airlines.
Robert Isom, chief executive officer of American Airlines and current chairman of Oneworld’s governing board, said Orvér’s commercial expertise and experience with global partnerships would support the alliance’s upcoming customer-focused initiatives.
Orvér said he is honored to join Oneworld at a pivotal time for global travel and aims to strengthen collaboration among member airlines while enhancing the customer journey through innovation and technology.
Oneworld currently comprises 15 member airlines, including Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Qantas, and Qatar Airways. The alliance serves nearly 1,000 destinations worldwide.
The alliance said Orvér will report to Oneworld’s governing board of member airline chief executives and will lead efforts to deepen member integration and advance technological capabilities.
