Amadeus data breach affects 46,000 Singapore Airlines bookings

Dhaka: Singapore Airlines
has disclosed that approximately 46,000 booking records may have been exposed
in a cybersecurity incident involving Amadeus, its reservation technology
provider.
The airline said on November
3 that the potentially compromised information included passengers' names,
booking reference numbers, travel itineraries and booking classes.
In around 620 records,
additional information such as email addresses, telephone numbers, travel
document details and KrisFlyer membership numbers may also have been accessed.
Singapore Airlines said
Amadeus had confirmed that no bank account or credit card information was
exposed and that existing reservations had not been altered. The carrier also
emphasized that its own information technology systems were not breached.
As a precaution, the
airline is contacting affected passengers with upcoming trips to arrange
changes to their booking reference numbers.
The incident has also
affected other international carriers, including Cathay Pacific, Japan
Airlines, Asiana Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, which have reported potential
exposure of customer information linked to the Amadeus breach.
Amadeus said it had
identified a vulnerability in a travel booking display environment but did not
disclose the number of customers potentially affected.
The incident has renewed
concerns over the security of passenger information handled by third-party
technology providers across the global aviation industry.
