Salahuddin Sumon named Tourism Content Creator of the Year 2026

The award was presented
by the Bangladesh Tourism Board at a World Tourism Day program held October 3
at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
Sumon has built a
following by documenting destinations ranging from Antarctica and the Arctic to
the Amazon, while also using his platforms to showcase Bangladesh’s
archaeological sites, heritage, rural communities and lesser-known landscapes.
Accepting the
recognition, Sumon said receiving an award from the country’s tourism
regulatory authority was a particularly significant achievement.
He also called for a
broader approach to promoting Bangladesh, arguing that tourism marketing should
extend beyond established destinations such as Cox’s Bazar, Saint Martin’s
Island and Sajek Valley.
According to Sumon, rural
Bangladesh could become a major tourism attraction if developed and promoted
strategically. He highlighted the country’s changing village landscapes across
the seasons and said traditional rural life, already featured prominently in
Bangladeshi literature and cinema, deserves greater attention in tourism
planning.
Minister of Civil
Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat said the government is prepared to
work with private investors through public-private partnerships and leasing
arrangements to develop tourism sites.
The ceremony recognized
contributions across 16 tourism categories.
