World Tourism Day 2026: Peninsula Chittagong launches Chattogram’s Digital Itinerary

The Peninsula Chittagong celebrated World Tourism Day 2026 with a vibrant programme themed “Unlock Chattogram”, showcasing the city’s cultural heritage, natural beauty and tourism attractions.

Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, attended the programme as Chief Guest. Mustafa Tahseen Arshad, Operations Director, The Peninsula Chittagong, Fahmida Sultana Tanjee, Chairman, Department of Dramatic Arts, University of Chittagong, were present as Special Guests.

A key attraction of the event was the launch of Chattogram’s Digital Itinerary, an interactive guide designed to help international visitors explore the city’s landmarks, heritage, attractions, dining and hospitality experiences through a QR code.

The celebration also featured the “Chattogram Unlocked: Your City, Your Story” AI-Powered Short Film Competition, inviting college and university students to showcase Chattogram’s stories, culture and tourism attractions through AI-generated short films.

Sanjidul Alam Chowdhury of Chittagong University won the first prize of BDT 15,000, while Ishtiak Mahmud Tanim of Premier University and Alamin Hossan of Open University secured the second and third prizes, receiving BDT 10,000 and BDT 5,000 respectively.

The programme concluded with a colourful cultural performance celebrating the artistic heritage of Chattogram.
