Malaysia Airlines considers ordering 45 new aircraft

Dhaka: Malaysia Airlines is considering ordering 45 new aircraft including 35 narrow-bodies and 10 twin-aisle aircraft to support its long-term growth plans, said its Group Managing Director Izham Ismail, as per reports.

The wide-body order would be for delivery from 2030, Ismail said on November 9 at the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines’ annual meeting in Singapore.

For the single-aisle aircraft, the airline will contact manufacturers for bids in the first quarter of 2024, aiming for first deliveries in 2028, reports cited Ismail saying.

Malaysia Airlines already has 20 Airbus A330neos on order and 25 Boeing 737 Max aircraft due to join its fleet.

While the Max deliveries are held up by bulkhead checks, the airline expects the first to come within a week, added reports.
