Vietjet receives 22 aircraft in major expansion

Dhaka: Vietjet, Vietnam’s budget airline, is set to close 2025 with its largest-ever fleet expansion, taking delivery of 22 new aircraft before year’s end.

The airline received an Airbus A321neo ACF (VN-A580) this Christmas, marking a significant milestone in its history.

The new aircraft have been distributed across Vietjet’s operations: nine Boeing jets for Vietjet Thailand, seven next-gen Airbus planes for its Vietnam fleet, four wet-lease aircraft for peak travel periods, and two COMAC aircraft for routes to Con Dao."

The expansion comes ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year, a peak travel period, and will support growing demand both domestically and internationally.

It also positions Vietjet as one of the larger carriers in Southeast Asia, reflecting the airline's financial strength and standing with manufacturers amid industry-wide aircraft shortages.

Vietjet’s fleet growth comes as global airlines struggle with supply chain disruptions and delivery delays. With this expansion, the airline aims to strengthen its regional network, particularly as Asia's travel demand continues to surge post-pandemic.

The additional aircraft will enhance both domestic Vietnamese routes and international services across the Asia-Pacific.
