Bangladesh proposes digital matchmaking platform to boost skilled workforce recruitment in Japan

Dhaka: The Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, Shinichi Saida, paid a courtesy call on the Foreign Minister, Khalilur Rahman, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, February 25.
During the meeting, Ambassador Saida congratulated Dr. Rahman on his assumption of office and reaffirmed Japan’s strong commitment to further deepening the longstanding and friendly relations between Bangladesh and Japan. The discussions reflected the shared vision of both countries to expand cooperation across diverse sectors, particularly in human resource development and employment generation, read a press release.
A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion on the Employment Skill Development Programme (ESDP), with special emphasis on skills enhancement and Japanese language training for Bangladeshi workers aspiring to work in Japan. In this context, Foreign Minister Dr. Rahman underscored the importance of improving access to reliable, transparent, and real-time information for both employers and job seekers.
To this end, the Foreign Minister proposed the development of a dedicated digital matchmaking platform aimed at facilitating seamless recruitment of skilled Bangladeshi workers by Japanese employers. The proposed platform would serve as a centralized digital gateway, connecting certified Bangladeshi professionals with verified Japanese companies, streamlining the recruitment process, enhancing transparency, and reducing time and costs for both sides. The initiative is expected to complement existing government-to-government frameworks and strengthen institutional collaboration in overseas employment.
The ambassador welcomed the proposal and acknowledged Bangladesh’s growing pool of skilled and semi-skilled workers, expressing optimism about further cooperation under Japan’s labor mobility schemes.
During the meeting, Ambassador Saida conveyed an invitation for the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh to visit Japan at a mutually convenient time. The two sides also exchanged views on defense procurement, metro rail cooperation, and continued mutual support in international forums.
