BIHA executive committee takes charge for 2026–2028

Dhaka: The Bangladesh International Hotel Association (BIHA), the apex trade body representing the country’s luxury and international hotel and resort sector, held the installation ceremony of its newly elected Executive Committee for 2026–2028.
The event, organized around the theme "Celebrating Leadership, Unity, and Excellence," took place on August 2 at an elite hotel in the capital. Civil Aviation and Tourism State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
The occasion brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, and policy stakeholders, including representatives from the Directorate of Trade Organizations and the Ministry of Commerce. Managing directors, chief executives, general managers, and owners from leading international and luxury hotels and resorts across Bangladesh were also present.
In his address, Millat described the tourism and hospitality sector as one of the most promising industries of Bangladesh, citing its role in generating jobs, drawing investment, and building the country's global image. He said the government, under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, remains committed to backing the sector through policy support and workforce development.
The state minister also expressed his optimism that BIHA would help raise service standards and expand collaboration between the private sector and the government to attract more investment into tourism and hospitality.
The newly elected president, Nasser Rahman, said the association would continue working with government ministries to build sustainable, globally competitive tourism infrastructure as the country's hospitality sector expands rapidly.
Khaled Ur Rahaman, BIHA's immediate past president for 2024–2025, pointed to the significance of continuity in leadership, noting that the transition reflects the collective strength of the association's member hotels.

Newly elected Vice President Ahmed Yusuf Walid called for stronger policy backing and Bangladesh-specific hospitality standards, adding that a growing sector could generate substantial employment for the country's younger population.
The Bangladesh International Hotel Association (BIHA) is a premier association that represents the international and luxury hotel sector in Bangladesh. It works to promote sustainable tourism, uphold international service standards, and advocate for progressive policies in collaboration with government authorities.
The association's new committee takes charge at a time when Bangladesh's tourism sector is being positioned for expansion, with officials pointing to skill development, service standardization, and stronger public-private coordination as near-term priorities.
