Expat Ministry provides 200 luggage trolleys at three international airports

Dhaka: The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has provided 200 luggage trolleys to Bangladesh’s three international airports to make travel easier for migrant workers.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury handed over 150 trolleys to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on October 19.
The ministry’s Wage Earners’ Welfare Board has also supplied 25 trolleys each to Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram and Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
Speaking at the handover ceremony and a subsequent press briefing, the minister said the initiative was aimed at facilitating the transportation of luggage and belongings of migrant workers.
Responding to questions about two Bangladeshis killed in a bombing in Saudi Arabia, the minister said one was a migrant worker and the other was an Umrah pilgrim. One victim was from Bogura and the other from Cumilla.
Their bodies would be repatriated to Bangladesh on a priority basis as soon as air connectivity and the overall situation returned to normal, he added.
Regarding reports that two Bangladeshi nationals had recently been executed in Saudi Arabia, the minister said the Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh had written to the relevant Saudi authorities seeking accurate information.
The government would formally inform the media once it received a response, he said.
