Jordan tourism revenue climbs 21.5pc

Jordan
: Jordan's tourism revenue rose 21.5 percent year over year in September to USD
794.3 million, pushing earnings for the first nine months of 2026 up 4.9
percent to USD 6.35 billion, according to preliminary Central Bank of Jordan
data.
The
growth came despite declining receipts from several major visitor markets,
highlighting an uneven recovery for the country's tourism industry amid
regional conflict and disruption to air travel.
Revenue
from European visitors fell 23.7 percent during January-September, while income
from US nationals dropped 16.3 percent. Receipts from Jordanian expatriates
declined 4.1 percent, and revenue from other nationalities contracted 38.2
percent.
However,
income from Arab visitors increased 18.8 percent, while receipts from Asian
nationalities rose 12.3 percent, helping offset losses in other markets.
September's
performance followed a 17.2 percent annual increase in August, when tourism
revenue reached USD 1.14 billion. Meanwhile, spending abroad by Jordanians and
residents fell 4.9 percent to USD 1.51 billion over the first nine months,
although September outlays increased 4.6 percent year over year to USD 152
million.
Tourism
investors say sustaining the recovery will require rebuilding demand from
Europe and North America while expanding opportunities in Arab and Asian
markets.
