Sheraton Dhaka, Westin Dhaka host grand Pohela Boishakh celebration

Dhaka: Sheraton Dhaka, in collaboration with The Westin Dhaka, hosted a vibrant Borshoboron Mela 2026 to celebrate Pohela Boishakh, bringing together families and culture enthusiasts in a festive atmosphere.
The day-long event, held at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Dhaka, featured a rich blend of Bengali traditions, food, and entertainment. Running from noon to evening, the mela offered an immersive cultural experience with a wide array of activities for visitors of all ages, read a press release.
Building on last year’s success, which drew over 400 guests, this year’s celebration expanded in scale and diversity. Attendees enjoyed traditional delicacies such as chotpoti, jhalmuri, pitha, faluda, and gurer cha, alongside popular dishes including panta-ilish, khichuri with beef, and chicken fried rice.
The event also featured a variety of attractions, including train rides, puppet shows, bioscope viewing, and interactive games like ludo and giant Jenga. Entertainment highlights included a circus show, mascot appearances, and traditional performances such as ronoppa.
Competitions like art contests, children’s fashion shows, biscuit races, and musical chairs added excitement, drawing enthusiastic participation from families and children.
In addition to food and entertainment, lifestyle and retail stalls showcased clothing, handicrafts, jewelry, perfumes, and gift items, creating a vibrant and festive marketplace.
Organizers said the mela was designed to offer a safe, premium, and family-friendly environment while preserving the essence of Bengali heritage. They noted that the event reflects a commitment to celebrating local culture in a modern setting, fostering unity and joy as people welcomed the Bengali New Year.
With its lively atmosphere, diverse offerings, and cultural richness, the event successfully captured the spirit of Pohela Boishakh, leaving attendees with memorable experiences.
