meed, Digibox jointly bring digital loyalty platform to Bangladesh

The platform allows
businesses to offer digital loyalty cards through Apple Wallet and Google
Wallet without requiring customers to download a separate app. Meed currently
operates in markets including Hong Kong, Bangkok and other parts of Southeast
Asia.
Under the new
partnership, meed will provide its technology platform, while Digibox will
oversee localization and work with businesses in Bangladesh. The companies have
already started enrolling their first local merchants, although pricing and the
initial priority business categories have not yet been announced.
Meed said Bangladesh’s
large mobile user base and growing digital economy make it an attractive market
for the service. The company cited data showing that 98.9% of households in the
country own a mobile phone, while smartphone penetration has also increased
significantly in recent years.
The partnership
originated through Accelerating Asia Ventures’ Cohort 13, where meed executives
and Digibox founders connected. Digibox co-founders Rezwanul Haque Jami and
Morshedul Alam Chaklader have also invested in meed through SAFE agreements.
Meed’s free plan supports
up to 50 members and includes features such as nearby notifications. Its Pro
plan offers additional notification options and analytics covering members,
locations and campaigns.
The companies said the Bangladesh launch will focus on building a strong local merchant network and testing the platform’s potential in one of Asia’s large and increasingly digital consumer markets.
