Rosatom to build 3D printing facility in Vietnam

The Fuel Division of Rosatom and Vietnam’s national oil and gas corporation Petrovietnam have signed an agreement to develop an Additive Manufacturing Center in Vietnam.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Vietnam To Lam, who was on an official state visit to Russia. The ceremony was attended by Nikolay Spassky, Deputy Director General for International Activities at Rosatom, and Le Ngoc Son, Chairman of Petrovietnam.

The agreement outlines the scope and delivery schedule for equipment required to establish a fully operational 3D printing center. It includes Rosatom-manufactured 3D printers for producing metal components using selective laser melting and direct laser deposition, along with Russian equipment for heat treatment, turning, laboratory analysis and other applications.

According to Phan Tu Giang of Petrovietnam, the center will enable rapid production of complex components for drilling and pumping equipment, reduce downtime through fast prototyping, and facilitate the restoration and repair of equipment and large-scale components using advanced additive manufacturing technologies.

The agreement also provides for establishing metal powder production in Vietnam, supported by technical training and knowledge exchange. The parties will jointly develop quality standards, qualification procedures and product certification.

“Going forward, we are ready to discuss localising 3D printer manufacturing in Vietnam,” said Ilya Kavelashvili, Director of the Additive Technologies business unit at the Rosatom Fuel Division, noting that Rosatom completed similar work with partners in Belarus in 2025.
