Turkish Airlines marks 15 years in Bangladesh with marathon

Dhaka: Turkish Airlines celebrated 15 years of operations in Bangladesh by supporting the Turkish Airlines Half Marathon 2026, which drew about 5,000 runners from Bangladesh and overseas at Hatirjheel in the capital.

Organized by fitness and sports event platform ActivePulse, the race combined a focus on physical well-being with the airline’s anniversary celebrations, highlighting its long-standing links between Bangladesh, Türkiye and destinations across its international network.

Islam Gure, general manager of Turkish Airlines, attended the event as chief guest and spoke about the airline’s relationship with Bangladesh beyond its aviation operations.

Gure said the carrier’s 15-year presence has been centered not only on air connectivity but also on bringing people and cultures closer, strengthening relationships and creating opportunities.

He also thanked government agencies, business partners, organizers, volunteers and participants for their contributions to the event.

Among those attending were Group Captain Ragib Samad, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport; İrem Çelik of the Turkish Embassy in Dhaka; Harun Ortaç of United Aygaz LPG; Osman Çelik of Singer Beko Bangladesh; Turkish Cargo manager Mohammad Arif Hossain Khan; and Turkish Airlines officials Semih Kulcu and Yusuf Saritac.

ActivePulse founders Tanvir Ahmed and Morsaline Ahmmed were also present.
