China, Bangladesh seek to deepen cultural cooperation

Dhaka: China and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cultural ties, with both sides agreeing to expand cooperation in culture, arts, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.

The understanding came during a meeting on July 28 between Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, alongside State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom, according to a press release issued by the Chinese Embassy. Ministry Secretary Kaniz Moula also attended the meeting.

During the talks, Ambassador Yao described cultural exchanges as an integral part of China-Bangladesh relations, saying they play an irreplaceable role in enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries and deepening their longstanding friendship.

He expressed China's willingness to work closely with Bangladesh to elevate bilateral cultural exchanges to a new level.

The Bangladeshi ministers welcomed the progress made in cultural cooperation in recent years and expressed interest in expanding experience sharing and mutual learning.

They also called for greater practical cooperation in areas including cultural and artistic exchanges and the protection of intangible cultural heritage, the embassy said.
