Dhaka: 45,649 Bangladeshi pilgrims have already reached Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj, as flight operations continue in full swing.

According to officials at the Bangladesh Hajj Office, a total of 45,649 pilgrims have arrived so far on 115 flights, most of which have landed in Jeddah. The remaining pilgrims are expected to travel in phases over the coming weeks.

Airlines are operating multiple services to transport pilgrims, with Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the largest share, followed by Saudia and Flynas.

Officials said, a total of 78,500 Bangladeshis are expected to perform Hajj this year, most under private management through licensed agencies, while a smaller portion are travelling under government arrangements.

Health support services have also been deployed, with thousands of pilgrims receiving medical assistance from Saudi teams and support desks since arrival. However, authorities confirmed that seven Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far due to natural causes.

The first Hajj flight departed Dhaka in mid-April from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, marking the beginning of the annual pilgrimage movement.

This year’s Hajj is expected to take place around late May, subject to moon sighting, while return flights for Bangladeshi pilgrims are scheduled to begin at the end of the month and continue through June.
