Gary Farstad named general manager at Westin Dhaka

Dhaka: The Westin Dhaka has appointed Gary Farstad as its new general manager, effective May 1.

A seasoned hospitality professional, Farstad brings over 20 years of international experience — including leadership roles across Canada, the Cayman Islands, and Curaçao — with a strong track record in operational excellence, revenue growth, and luxury hotel management.

Throughout his career, Farstad has successfully transformed full-service hotel operations through strategic leadership, guest-focused innovation, and high-performing team cultures.

Most recently, at Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort, he delivered a USD 2.4 million increase in gross operating profit between 2023 and 2024, alongside notable improvements in brand audit scores and employee engagement.

His career recognitions include the ITAC National Business Innovation Award in 2022 and the Hotel Association of Canada's Revenue Performance Team of the Year Award in 2019.

The Westin Dhaka said Farstad's dynamic leadership style and extensive international background are expected to further strengthen the property's standing as one of Bangladesh's premier luxury hospitality destinations.
