New Zealand keen to expand cooperation in tourism, higher education

Dhaka: New Zealand has expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation with Bangladesh in several promising sectors, particularly tourism, higher education, pharmaceuticals, and food processing, during a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir and New Zealand High Commissioner to Bangladesh David Pine held at the Prime Minister’s Office on May 18.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations, trade expansion, and opportunities for enhancing mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Highlighting New Zealand’s interest in strengthening partnerships with Bangladesh, High Commissioner David Pine said his country sees significant potential for collaboration in tourism and higher education, alongside the pharmaceuticals and food processing industries.
The envoy also praised Bangladesh’s active role in addressing the adverse impacts of global climate change and encouraged the country to play a stronger leadership role on the international stage in tackling climate-related challenges.
Adviser Humayun Kabir said Bangladesh, despite being one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, is firmly committed to sustainable development, environmental protection, and building a green economy.
He added that Bangladesh is prepared to take an effective leadership role globally in combating climate change.
The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, according to a press release.
