Dhaka: The month-long 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2026 has begun at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin inaugurated the trade fair on Saturday (Jan 3) morning.

The Commerce Adviser said the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair is a major milestone for the country’s trade and business sector.

He noted that the fair is not just about displaying products, but also about highlighting Bangladesh’s new businesses, innovations and overall progress in commerce.

Bashir Uddin also said Bangladesh is now an important player in global trade. He explained that the fair aims to improve and diversify export products, help businesses enter new international markets, strengthen trade connections, boost economic diplomacy and expand international cooperation.

The fair also works to build a positive image of Bangladesh abroad and attract foreign investment to support sustainable economic growth.

The fair hosts 324 stalls and pavilions, including 11 from foreign participants.

For the first time, an ‘Export Enclave’ will showcase top products from seven export-oriented sectors under the theme “Best of Bangladesh”, aiming to attract international buyers.

A Bangladesh Square will feature exhibitions commemorating the Language Movement of 1952, the Liberation War, and the July 2024 movement.

Special zones have been arranged for electronics, furniture, senior citizens, and children, along with cultural spaces. Reserved stalls are allocated for women, persons with disabilities, and entrepreneurs in cottage, handloom, textile, and handicraft sectors.

Visitors can buy tickets online or on-site with QR code entry. Tickets are priced at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children under 12.

Freedom fighters, persons with disabilities, and victims of the July 2024 movement will enjoy free entry.

Over 200 dedicated BRTC buses and concessionary ride-sharing services provided by Pathao will facilitate transportation.

Security is ensured through police, RAB, armed forces, private guards, CCTV, and metal detectors, while fire services and healthcare facilities operate round-the-clock. Cleanliness is maintained by over 200 personnel.

Originally scheduled to open on January 1, the inauguration of the trade fair was deferred to January 3 following the government's declaration of three days of national mourning over the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

This year's fair has banned the use of polythene bags and single-use plastics. As an eco-friendly alternative, shopping bags will be supplied at subsidised rates through the Ministry of Jute and Textiles.

According to the layout plan, a total of 324 pavilions, stalls and restaurants have been allocated to local manufacturers, exporters, general business entities and foreign companies participating in the fair.

Organized since 1995 by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) promotes domestic products, supports exports, encourages production, and creates employment opportunities.
