Dhaka : The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Dhaka has issued an important notice introducing new transit visa requirements for Bangla-deshi citizens traveling through Egypt.
In a Facebook post published on March 30, the embassy announced that, in line with updated instructions from Egyptian authorities,
Bangladeshi travelers must now obtain a transit visa in advance before passing through Egypt enroute to another destination.
According to the notice, transit visas must be secured prior to travel through the Egyptian Embassy in Dhaka.
Travelers are also required to hold a valid passport and, where applicable, a valid visa or residence permit for their final destination country.
The embassy clarified that Egypt must serve strictly as a transit point in the traveler's itinerary, and entry will remain subject to Egyptian immigration regulations, including clearance from entry restriction records.
Officials have urged all prospective travelers to complete the visa process in advance to avoid potential disruptions or inconvenience during their journey.
However, the embassy noted that previous provisions allowing visa-on-arrival for travelers holding valid visas from certain countries will remain in effect.
The newly emphasized transit visa requirement applies specifically to longer transit stays.
The transit visa, once issued, will be valid for 72 hours and does not affect passengers who remain within the airport during short layovers.
For further details and application procedures, travelers have been advised to contact the consular section of the embassy.
