BERC cuts jet fuel price by BDT 19.22 per liter

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced jet fuel prices for domestic and international flights for the third consecutive month as global oil prices continue to ease.
The revised prices, announced in a notification on July 8, take effect from midnight.
Under the new rates, jet fuel for domestic flights will cost BDT 130.99 per liter, down from BDT 150.21. Meanwhile, the price has been reduced to USD 0.8556 per liter from USD 0.9808 for international flights.
The latest adjustment follows a BDT 15.67-per-liter reduction BERC made in the previous month. Prior to that, in May, jet fuel prices were cut by a combined BDT 61.12 per liter in two phases.
The cuts come after a series of sharp price hikes earlier this year, following attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28.
Before the conflict, domestic jet fuel was priced at BDT 95.12 per liter in February. In March, BERC raised prices twice by a combined BDT 107 per liter, followed by another BDT 24.79-per-liter hike in April.
The conflict later expanded across the region as Iran retaliated, with attacks on energy infrastructure triggering volatility in international fuel markets.
Crude oil prices have fallen since the ceasefire, prompting BERC to cut domestic jet fuel prices further.
