Le Méridien Dhaka appoints Gregor Schmidt-Kiefer as general manager
Schmidt-Kiefer has held
senior management roles across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, with
experience spanning hotel operations, commercial performance and guest
services.
Before joining Le
Méridien Dhaka, he served as hospitality director at Wirefox Hospitality Ltd.,
where he oversaw a portfolio of boutique hotels in Scotland and Northern
Ireland. His previous positions include general manager of Marriott Karachi
Hotel and area general manager for the O’Callaghan Collection in Dublin.
In his new position,
Schmidt-Kiefer will be responsible for the hotel’s overall operational and commercial
performance as well as its continued market positioning.
The appointment comes as
Bangladesh’s tourism and hospitality sector continues to evolve, according to
the hotel.
Schmidt-Kiefer said
moving from Ireland to Bangladesh presents an opportunity to contribute to the
country’s changing hospitality landscape. He also highlighted Le Méridien
Dhaka’s European-inspired brand identity and focus on destination discovery.
The hotel said his
appointment is expected to support its efforts to strengthen guest experiences
and encourage visitors to explore Dhaka’s culture, cuisine and local
attractions.
Schmidt-Kiefer will lead
the property as it seeks to build on its position in Dhaka’s luxury hotel
market.
