Md Al-Amin, Asif Ahmed crowned Hoteliers of the Year

Dhaka : Md Al-Amin, General Manager of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel, and Asif Ahmed, Acting General Manager of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, were recognized for their outstanding leadership and contributions to the hospitality industry as Hoteliers of the Year at the Bangladesh Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality Awards 2025, organized by The Bangladesh Monitor at InterContinental Dhaka on January 29.
Md Al-Amin, General Manager, Renaissance Dhaka and Asif Ahmed, Acting General Manager, Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka received the awards from Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Interim Government on Environment, Forest and Climate Affairs; Ahmed Yusuf Walid, President and CEO of Galaxy Bangladesh Group; Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor of The Bangladesh Monitor; and Asma Ali, Member of the Jury Board.

Md Al-Amin is the first Bangladeshi General Manager within Marriott International in South Asia.
With over 18 years of experience, he leads Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel with analytical precision, empathy, and innovation.
Under his leadership, the hotel has achieved exceptional guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.
A strong advocate of mentorship, local talent development, and eco-conscious practices, he exemplifies how global hospitality standards can be achieved through local excellence.

Asif Ahmed, Acting General Manager, Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, also receiving award as Hotelier of the Year at BTTHA 2025
Asif Ahmed, Acting General Manager and Executive Assistant Manager of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, has served the iconic hotel for nearly two decades.
A recipient of the CMO Asia Best General Manager Award, he guided the hotel through major crises while maintaining profitability and brand prestige.
His leadership blends heritage, sustainability, and staff empowerment, redefining hospitality excellence in Bangladesh.
Al-Amin as the only Bangladeshi General Manager of a foreign hotel chain and Asif Ahmed’s long-serving career at a foreign hotel brand made them the recipients of the award.
