Salahuddin Sumon and Nilay Biswas embark on High Arctic Expedition

Dhaka: Travel content creator
Salahuddin Sumon and travel writer Nilay Kumar Biswas have embarked on a High
Arctic expedition, continuing their polar exploration series following their
Antarctica journey earlier this year.
The duo has arrived in
Longyearbyen, the world’s northernmost sizeable settlement, located in the
Svalbard archipelago of Norway. Situated at approximately 78 degrees north
latitude, Svalbard lies roughly midway between mainland Norway and the North
Pole, making it one of the most remote inhabited regions on Earth.
Arriving in early June, the
explorers are experiencing the Arctic’s famed Midnight Sun, a natural
phenomenon during which the sun remains above the horizon for nearly 24 hours a
day, bathing the landscape in continuous daylight.
Known for its dramatic Arctic
scenery, Longyearbyen offers breathtaking views of glaciers, frozen fjords, and
snow-covered mountains. The surrounding wilderness is home to iconic wildlife,
including Polar Bear, Arctic Fox, Svalbard Reindeer, Walrus, seals, and a
variety of seabirds.
Speaking about the expedition,
Sumon said that visiting both Antarctica and the Arctic within the same year
marks a significant milestone in his journey as a Bangladeshi content creator.
He noted that sharing the unique landscapes, wildlife, and environmental
realities of the polar regions with Bengali-speaking audiences would provide an
extraordinary and educational experience for his viewers.
The expedition’s stories,
insights, and visual documentation will be featured on Sumon’s YouTube channel
following the completion of the journey.
Biswas, who has accompanied Sumon
on several previous expeditions, has spent years exploring and promoting
distinctive destinations around the world through his travel writing and
storytelling.
The High Arctic expedition is sponsored by Dot Internet.
