Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines launch joint business partnership

Dhaka: Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines have launched their strategic joint business partnership, formalized in January following regulatory approvals, introducing joint fare products for travel between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
The new joint fare offerings build on the airlines' existing codeshare partnership, enabling both carriers to provide customers with a wider variety of fare options between the two capital cities, along with enhanced connectivity across their combined network.
Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines said they are also working toward the progressive introduction of additional customer benefits, including reciprocal lounge access, coordinated flight schedules, and joint corporate travel arrangements.
These initiatives reflect the airlines' deepening commercial collaboration and shared commitment to improving connectivity between Singapore, Malaysia, and the wider region.
Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Singapore Airlines, said the introduction of joint fare products with Malaysia Airlines expands the range of fare options available to customers traveling between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, offering greater flexibility and convenience when planning their journeys.
He added that as the two carriers deepen their collaboration, they will continue combining their strengths to enhance both airlines' offerings and deliver greater value to customers, while strengthening the long-standing people-to-people connections and trade links between the two countries.
Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business at Malaysia Aviation Group, said the joint business partnership with Singapore Airlines marks a significant milestone in the expansion of the two carriers' commercial collaboration.
He said introducing joint fare products gives customers greater choice, improved flexibility, and a more seamless travel experience, adding that the collaboration also lays the foundation for deeper integration across both networks, ultimately benefiting leisure and business travelers alike.
Since signing their commercial cooperation framework agreement in October 2019, Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines have progressively expanded their collaboration, offering customers greater connectivity and more travel options.
The two airlines currently codeshare on services across Singapore, Malaysia, Europe, and South Africa.
In addition, both carriers introduced reciprocal accrual and redemption between the KrisFlyer and Enrich frequent flyer programs in February 2024, allowing members to earn and redeem miles or points on selected flights operated by both carriers.
