South Asia's largest discount festival to debut in Dhaka this December

Dhaka: Bangladesh is set to host what organizers describe as South Asia's largest discount festival, with the inaugural Dhaka Discount Fest 2026 scheduled to take place in the capital from December 10 to 12.
The three-day event, announced at a press conference at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka on July 1, will bring together 250 local and international brands, entrepreneurs, and businesses, offering discounts of up to 75% alongside flash sales, limited-time deals, and promotional offers.
Organized by Eventcomm, with Ventora Communications Limited as the strategic partner and OPAS Communications Ltd. as the public relations partner, the festival will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) in Agargaon.
According to the organizers, the festival aims to create a single platform where consumers can purchase products from leading domestic and international brands at discounted prices while helping businesses expand their market reach and strengthen customer engagement.
The event is expected to feature brands and companies from Bangladesh as well as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and several other Asian and European countries.
Speaking at the press conference, Project Director Dr. Md. Taslim Amin Shovon said the festival is intended to strengthen connections between consumers and local and international brands.
"We believe this initiative will strengthen Bangladesh's retail sector, enhance brand-consumer relationships, and contribute to the development of a more dynamic brand ecosystem," he said.
Head of Operations Shafiqul Islam described the festival as the first initiative of its kind in Bangladesh, saying it would make quality products more affordable while creating new opportunities for retail growth, brand marketing, and customer engagement.
The organizers also highlighted a dedicated platform for women entrepreneurs.
Chief Facilitator for Women Empowerment Jinnat Ara Bari said the festival would help women-led businesses showcase their products to thousands of potential customers, corporate buyers, distributors, business partners, and media representatives, helping them overcome challenges in expanding their market presence.
To encourage participation, businesses and brands that book exhibition stalls by July 16 will receive an early-bird discount of 50%, the organizers said.
They also announced plans to make the event an annual fixture and expand it beyond Dhaka. Similar discount festivals are planned in Chattogram from March 11-13, Rajshahi from May 13-15, Sylhet from June 10-13, and Khulna from September 9-11 next year.
The organizers said they also aim to take the festival beyond Bangladesh in the future, with details of the first international edition to be announced later.
