Tourists flock to Kuakata as Padma Bridge provides smoother trips

Kuakata : Tourists travelling to Kuakata during the Eid al-Adha break have had a smoother and more pleasant trip owing to the Padma Bridge.
Every hotel and motel in Kuakata has been full with tourists during the Eid al-Adha holidays.
Thanks to the Padma Bridge, hospitality and tourism businesses in Kuakata are now hoping to turn around the crisis they faced during the pandemic.
According to reports, Md Motaleb Sharif, General Secretary, Kuakata Hotel-Motel Owners' Association, said, "There are over 100 hotels and motels in Kuakata capable of accommodating as many as 20,000 people."
"There are high chances that over 50,000 tourists might visit after Eid al-Adha," Sharif added.
He shared that tourists from nearby areas visited Kuakata the day after Eid. However, tourists from across the country started arriving to the popular tourist site from the third day.
The Padma Bridge has shortened the distance from the capital's Zero Point to Kuakata to almost 300 km.
With no ferries required for the journey, the trip now takes around 6 hours and 30 minutes, which is less than half of the time it used to take before.
Reports cited Abul Hossain Raju, Managing Director, Kuakata Green Tourism, saying, "Our guides are busy providing full-time services. The speedboats are all busy travelling to different places."
