Bangladesh arranges special Dhaka–Bahrain flights for stranded expatriates

Dhaka: Bangladesh has announced two special flights for expatriates needing urgent travel between Bahrain and Dhaka amid ongoing regional tensions.
According to a notice from the Bangladesh embassy in Manama, the flights—operated by Gulf Air—will depart from Bahrain to Dhaka via Dammam on March 27 and April 3. Return flights from Dhaka to Dammam are scheduled for the same days.
Bangladeshis wishing to travel on these flights—either returning home or going back to Bahrain—have been asked to register through designated Google forms.
The Google form to register for Dammam to Dhaka can be accessed using the link https://forms.gle/Z8pU1jhTEZVFBrqC6, and for Dhaka to Dammam using the link https://forms.gle/oxBLPyCnMpxd6bdi6.
Authorities said further details will be shared once the flights reach full passenger capacity.
The move comes as large numbers of migrant workers have been left stranded due to airspace restrictions across the Gulf region, triggered by escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Bangladesh has around six million citizens working in Gulf countries, many of whom have been affected.
Earlier, on March 20, a chartered Gulf Air flight brought 282 Bangladeshis back from Bahrain via Dammam. On the same day, another 186 citizens returned from Baku, Azerbaijan, after being evacuated from Iran. These evacuees had crossed into Azerbaijan by land before flying to Dhaka on a special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
The evacuation efforts were coordinated by the Bangladesh government with support from the International Organization for Migration.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed said on March 24 that about 2,000 Bangladeshis—many of them students—are currently in Tehran and are safe. She added that evacuation plans are ready if the situation worsens, emphasizing that ensuring the safety of Bangladeshi nationals remains the government’s top priority.
