Robi replaces Airtel brand with Cirkle in Bangladesh

The new brand was unveiled at an
event at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on August 17. Robi said the transition
will not require Airtel customers to change their existing mobile connections
or affect their current services.
All Airtel subscribers will
automatically become Cirkle customers, while their existing 016 numbers,
packages, balances and other services will remain intact, the company said.
Robi also said customers’ mobile
financial services accounts, wallets, transaction facilities and personal
information will continue to operate without interruption.
According to the operator, Cirkle
will build on Airtel’s 16-year presence in Bangladesh and focus on affordable,
digital-first offerings. The brand is also expected to introduce services
around entertainment, gaming, content creation and online communities, with
future products potentially incorporating technologies such as artificial
intelligence.
“Cirkle is the next evolution of
Airtel’s journey, built for how Bangladesh’s young-at-heart generation will
connect in the future,” said Ziad Shatara, managing director and CEO of Robi
Axiata.
Robi and Airtel Bangladesh completed
their merger in 2016, with the combined company operating as Robi, Bangladesh’s
second-largest mobile telecom operator.
The company said customers will continue receiving uninterrupted services during the transition to the new brand.
