Two Adani airports feature in UNESCO recognized Prix Versailles list

Dhaka: Two airports
operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) in India have been included
in the UNESCO recognized Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports 2026
list.
The airports — Navi
Mumbai International Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi
International Airport in Guwahati — were selected for their architectural
innovation, sustainability features, and passenger experience design.
The Prix Versailles, announced annually at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, is considered one of the world’s leading honors in architecture and design. Airports are evaluated based on criteria including contemporary innovation, cultural integration, environmental sustainability, and overall user experience.

According to the
announcement, Navi Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 1 has been designed
in the form of a lotus flower, symbolizing a blend of modern engineering and
cultural identity. The terminal has been highlighted for combining artistic
design with advanced infrastructure, reflecting India’s growing aviation
ambitions.
Guwahati Airport’s
Terminal 2 was recognized for its biophilic design inspired by the “Bamboo
Orchid,” incorporating natural elements and sustainable architecture that
reflect the biodiversity of India’s northeast region.
Other airports included in this year’s list are located in Guangzhou, Frankfurt am Main, Kandal Stueng, Pittsburgh, and San Diego. Three winners from the shortlist will later be awarded the Prix Versailles World Title across categories including overall design and architectural excellence.
