UK, Bangladesh explore new investment opportunities in aviation, tourism

Dhaka: Bangladesh and the United Kingdom have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation with a strong focus on new investment opportunities in the aviation and tourism sectors during a high-level meeting in Dhaka.
The meeting took place at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, where UK Trade Envoy Rosie Winterton held talks with Bangladesh’s Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, read a press release.
During the courtesy meeting, both sides emphasized strengthening trade and economic ties between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. The UK envoy reaffirmed her country’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh in implementing its development goals.
A key highlight of the discussion was the exploration of fresh investment prospects under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), particularly in Bangladesh’s aviation and tourism industries. The UK side also expressed interest in participating in ground handling operations at the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Bangladeshi officials welcomed the interest and reiterated their commitment to working jointly with the UK to modernize and expand the country’s aviation infrastructure and tourism sector.
The meeting is seen as a positive step toward deepening economic collaboration and unlocking new avenues for foreign investment in Bangladesh’s growing transport and travel industries.
