Dhaka: Crew of Banglar Samriddhi has called for help after the ship came under a missile attack at a port in Ukraine on March 2.
One Bangladeshi sailor named Hadisur Rahman was dead in the attack.
A video posted on Facebook showed Cadet Fariatul Jannat Tuli, a crew member, seeking help, saying, "There was bombing on our ship few minutes back. Our third engineer sir already died.”
She pleaded, “We are in danger. Please help and rescue us. Please save us. Please, save our lives."
In a separate video, a second engineer of the ship, whose name could not be known immediately, also appealed for help. He said, "We are running on emergency power supply. We are on the verge of death. We are yet to be rescued. We are all here. Save us. We received no help yet."
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) owns the vessel.
Banglar Samriddhi with 29 crew members -- all Bangladeshis -- reached the outer anchorage of Ukrainian port Olvia on February 23 to load ball clay. But due to delay in getting the port clearance, the ship failed to leave the port and it got stranded as the port's operations halted after the Russian invasion.
