Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines is eyeing to launch flights on Dhaka-Toronto-Dhaka route from March 26, said Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, Managing Director and CEO of the national flag carrier on February 28.
At a press conference at the Biman's headquarters in the capital's Kurmitola, the MD and CEO of Biman also mentioned the airline is ready to launch flights on Dhaka-Tokyo-Dhaka route as well.
"We will operate flights to Narita International Airport in Japan once the country withdraws the air travel ban related to the coronavirus pandemic," said Kamal.
Biman cancelled flight operations on Dhaka-Tokyo route in 2006, thinking it is not commercially viable.
However, now, with deepening business relations and tourist movement between the two countries, the flag carrier has decided to resume flight services on the route.
Biman currently has 21 aircraft in its fleet including ultramodern brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
The MD and CEO assured that all formalities to start flights on Dhaka-Toronto route are completed. "We are hopeful to operate flights on the route from March 26," he added.
The Chief of Biman announced the development at a briefing organised on the occasion of the relaunch of Biman's passenger service solution and online ticketing system in partnership with Sabre.
