Tata Group set to take over Air India by Jan with CEO Fred Reid

Dhaka: The Tata Group bought Air India from the central government earlier this year and ever since the group has been in full swing to take charge at the airline. From chalking out dates to taking over Air India entirely, to appointing officers – the Ratan Tata-owned firm is leaving no stones unturned in its efforts to revamp the airline struggling to keep up in the aviation industry for quite some time.  

The Tata Group, two months ago, bought this struggling state-owned carrier from the government by placing a bid of Rs 18,000 crore at an auction. After hustling for over one year, the group finally acquired the airline and ever since the group has been in efforts to restart the airline operations as soon as possible.

According to reports, the Tata Group will officially take over Air India by January 2022.

Now, the group is searching for officials to run the airline successfully. Aviation industry veteran Fred Reid is likely to become the CEO of Air India, according to reports. Reid has over 35 years of experience in the airline industry working with major carriers such as Lufthansa served as President, Delta Airlines served as COO and President, Virgin America as CEO and Airbnb as Co-Founder.

Reports further added that Nipun Aggarwal is likely to become the Chief Financial Officer of the airline. Aggarwal currently serves the company as the Vice President.

It is said the group is still in process of the share-purchase transaction with the government which the airline said would soon be complete.

Reports claimed, Tata is working on a blueprint of a 100-day plan under the supervision of Fred Reid through which they aim to revitalise the service standard of the airline.

According to reports, Tata is set to take over Air India by January 23, 2022.
