Dhaka: Thailand plans to provide financial assistance to foreign tourists stranded in the country due to widespread flight disruptions linked to the ongoing Middle East crisis.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has activated its Foreign Tourists Assistance Fund, allowing stranded visitors to receive up to THB 2,000 per day to help cover essential expenses such as accommodation and meals.

According to officials, the support will be provided in cases of force majeure, including flight cancellations and airspace closures. Each tourist can receive a maximum of THB 20,000 in total assistance.

Authorities are also coordinating with airlines, hotels and tourism partners to reduce the impact on affected travelers. Some hotels have been encouraged to offer discounted room rates and waive rescheduling or cancellation fees.

The highest number of stranded visitors are currently reported in major tourism hubs such as Bangkok, Phuket, and Krabi.

Officials said the financial support will remain available until travel disruptions ease and tourists are able to resume their journeys.
