Dhaka: A SpiceJet aircraft clipped a stationary Akasa Air plane while taxiing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on April 16, damaging both aircraft.
The incident involved a SpiceJet Boeing 737-700, registered VT-SLB, which struck its wing on an Akasa Air Boeing 737 MAX 8, registered VT-YBA, parked at the bay.
The collision caused damage to the starboard side (right) winglet of the SpiceJet aircraft and the port side (left) horizontal stabilizer of the Akasa Air plane.
The Akasa Air 737 MAX was stationary at the time and had been scheduled to operate flight QP1406 from Delhi to Hyderabad. All passengers and crew were safely disembarked, and the airline arranged an alternative aircraft for the affected passengers.
"Preliminary information indicates that Akasa's aircraft was stationary when another airline's aircraft made contact with it," an Akasa Air spokesperson said.
SpiceJet confirmed the ground incident in a statement, noting that the relevant authorities have been informed.
Both airlines said no occupants were injured during the collision, and investigations into the incident are underway.
