Dhaka: International flights to all destinations from Dhaka will be allowed from April 21, announced The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh in a notice today.

Until now, from April 17, amid the lockdown, the airlines were able to carry only migrant workers back to their respective workplaces in the Middle East and Singapore.

But this revised decision by CAAB allows the airlines already approved to operate flights to and from Dhaka under special consideration to carry outbound passengers to all international destinations in their networks.

Passengers can also bring their families along to fly, added the notice.

However, migrant workers are to get priority to travel over other passengers or their families, also mentioned CAAB in the notice.

Furthermore, to maintain social distancing onboard, CAAB has restricted all wide bodied (twin aisle) aircraft to carry a maximum of 280 passengers. But B777 and B747 aircraft can carry up to 350 passengers, said the notice.

This “revised privilege” to the airlines, as CAAB said in the notice, of carrying all passengers to all destinations, will be valid till April 28 if not extended further.
