Bangladesh's 'Mango Diplomacy' in Nepal to boost people-to-people connections

Dhaka:
The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has distributed more than 1,750 kilograms
of premium Bangladeshi mangoes among distinguished personalities in Nepal as
part of its annual “Season’s Best Compliments” initiative, using the popular
fruit as a gesture of goodwill and friendship.
According
to a press release issued by the embassy, the mangoes were presented to Nepali
dignitaries, senior government officials, ambassadors and members of the
diplomatic corps, business leaders, civil society representatives, and
longstanding friends and well-wishers of Bangladesh.
The
embassy team personally delivered mango packs to more than 360 recipients,
including the President of Nepal, the Speaker, members of the Council of
Ministers, and other prominent figures.
The
mangoes were freshly harvested from two orchards in Chapai Nawabganj, widely
known as Bangladesh’s mango capital, before being transported to Nepal through
the Banglabandha, Fulbari, and Kakarbhitta land ports to preserve their quality
and freshness.
The
consignment featured the renowned Khirshapat variety, a Geographical Indication
(GI)-certified mango considered one of the most flavorful varieties in the
Indian subcontinent.
The
embassy said the initiative reflects the enduring friendship and close
people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and Nepal, with the exchange
symbolizing warmth, goodwill, and a unique form of diplomacy that continues to
strengthen bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
The
Bangladesh Embassy also expressed appreciation to all those who contributed to
making this year’s “Mango Diplomacy” initiative in Nepal a success.
