Bangladesh, UK vow stronger cooperation to combat migration fraud

Dhaka: Bangladesh and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation to promote safe and regular migration while tackling immigration fraud and human trafficking involving Bangladeshi nationals.
The commitment came during a meeting between Kingsley Green, Director of Organised Immigration Crime Taskforces at the UK Home Office, and Acting Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Dr. M. Nazrul Islam at the Bangladesh High Commission in London on June 29, according to a social media post by the mission.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed measures to encourage regular migration pathways and enhance efforts to protect Bangladeshi citizens from immigration fraud, migrant smuggling, and human trafficking networks.
They also reviewed preparations for the second Bangladesh-UK Joint Working Group on Home Affairs, which is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation on migration management, border security, and law enforcement.
Both sides expressed hope that the upcoming meeting would be productive and agreed to continue close collaboration to address irregular migration and related transnational crimes.
The meeting comes amid growing concerns over visa scams, fraudulent overseas job offers, and human trafficking targeting aspiring Bangladeshi migrants, prompting both governments to intensify efforts to promote safe and legal migration channels.
