India to resume tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens from June 28

Dhaka: India will resume issuing tourist visas to Bangladeshi nationals from June 28, nearly two years after suspending the service.
India's new High Commissioner to Dhaka, Dinesh Trivedi, announced the move during a briefing at the Indian Visa Application Centre in the capital on June 25.
"From June 28, the process of issuing tourist visas for Bangladeshi nationals will resume," he said.
Trivedi mentioned that all five Indian Visa Application Centers across the country — Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Sylhet — will issue tourist visas to Bangladeshi citizens.
The announcement came shortly after the envoy formally assumed charge of the Indian mission in Dhaka by presenting his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin earlier in the day. He arrived in Bangladesh on June 12 to take up his new assignment as India's High Commissioner.
Earlier, India had suspended tourist visa services for Bangladeshi citizens following the political changeover in Bangladesh on August 5, 2024. However, medical and business visas have continued to be issued on a limited scale during the suspension.
The resumption of tourist visas is expected to facilitate travel between the two neighboring countries, particularly for leisure and family visits.
