Airbus seeks deeper engagement with Biman as French envoy meets airline chief


Dhaka: France has reiterated its support for expanding Airbus' engagement with Biman Bangladesh Airlines, highlighting the European aircraft manufacturer's potential role in strengthening the national flag carrier's fleet and Bangladesh's broader aviation sector.
French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet made the remarks during a courtesy call on Biman Bangladesh Airlines Chairman Rumee A. Hossain on July 8, where the two sides discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation in civil aviation.
During the meeting, the ambassador recalled the longstanding partnership between France and Bangladesh and explored avenues for enhanced collaboration in the aviation sector, read a press release from the embassy.
He reaffirmed France's commitment to supporting the development and modernization of Bangladesh's aviation industry, pointing to the successful cooperation between French technology company Thales and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
Highlighting the role of European aerospace giant Airbus, the ambassador said closer cooperation with the manufacturer would help strengthen Biman's fleet capacity while contributing to the overall development of Bangladesh's aviation ecosystem.
He added that greater engagement with Airbus would also reflect Bangladesh's commitment to building a long-term partnership with the European Union in the aviation sector.
The ambassador further stressed the importance of ensuring a fair and level playing field to encourage increased participation by European companies in Bangladesh's aviation industry.
